The bathroom sure can be a spooky place, especially in the scenes from scary movies. With Halloween just around the corner, here’s a few frightening flicks featuring bathrooms scenes.
The Shining: This popular 1980’s movie has a few memorable bathroom scenes. The famous “Here’s Johnny!” line was uttered from Jack Nicholson’s character, Jack Torrance just after he chops down the bathroom door with an axe.
There is an additional bathroom scene in which Jack meets the butler. Jack accuses the butler of being the caretaker he’s heard about—the one who went crazy and chopped his family into little pieces.
Psycho: This 1960’s thriller is the home of perhaps one of the most chilling bathroom scenes of all time. Character Marion Crane, played by Janet Leigh, steps into the shower of her hotel room. During her shower, a female killer comes into the bathroom, stabs her to death, leaving bright red blood on the white of the bathroom.
Saw: In 2004, the first of the Saw series was released, with most of the film taking place in a dingy bathroom. At the beginning of the movie, Adam Faulker awakes in a bathtub filled with water. Once the lights come on, he meets Lawrence Gordon—both of them are chained to pipes. The men must figure out how to get unshackled before the sun sets, or else they will end up like the man in the middle of the bathroom: dead in a pool of blood.
Poltergeist: In 1982, the first of the Poltergeist movies was released and became very popular. One of the most gruesome scenes occurs in the bathroom, while Steve Freeling, the father, is looking at himself in the mirror. He hallucinates, taking his hands and peeling off the skin of his face revealing blood and guts.
Scream 2: The second flick in the Scream series opens with a character going to the bathroom at a movie theatre. The bathroom is packed with people dressed in the infamous costume: black cloaks, white ghost face. Going into a stall, the movie-goer presses his cheek up to the side of the stall, hearing something odd. He is stabbed in the face, through the stall wall.
Be safe in there!
